The width of brake linings: 1927 Model A

Postby Richard Kal » Wed Jun 20, 2018 4:59 am

Hi all,
Focusing on front and rear brakes, but lack information.

I have replaced the original hubs, as they were both rusted though.

I was lucky to find a serviceable front hub, and shrunk in a cast iron liner.
I machined down a rear hub from something else (someone suggested it was Norton?) and shrunk on a new sprocket.

Brake shoes are a rare commodity; I have found some which use 3/4" wide linings, and some with 1"wide.

Which size (lining width) is correct for these brakes?

Thanks,

Richard

For what it's worth, my 1928 Model C has ⅞" × 7" linings front and rear.
