partial loss of oil pressure - square 4

Hi all
can anyone shed light on the following.
After much cursing and time I managed to fit a remote oil filter to my 51 square 4
Immediately prior to fitting it oil pressure was 100psi on tick over when cold and very gradually (5mins or so) would drop to 80psi. After that it would further reduce as the engine got hotter.

Since fitting the oil filter - only 80 psi at most soon dropping to 60 and quickly down to about 40 in a matter of a minute or so. When hot it seems fine but maybe a little lower than before (I'm making allowances for our hot weather at the moment)

I have done the obvious - checked the oil return , which is very good. Bled the morgo pump (as I did an oil change at the same time as the fitment) .
I have even bled the oil line to the oil gauge in case a column of air was the problem but no difference. I suppose it could be the relief valve but seems odd this would fail at the same time as fitting the above as it was not touched in the process.
Any ideas out there as to what the cause could be?
Many thanks
Mark

Odd. Nothing like that with mine. I suppose you might have disturbed some chunk of crud that upset the relief valve?

You were 100% right Simes!
Just took the ball bearing out and cleaned it and kicked the bike over to make oil issue out with any potential obstruction. Replaced the bearing and spring and started her up.
100 PSI on tick over from cold
Must have been a bit of muck in the system, or in the oil pipe feed when it was replaced. -problem now over. (I must admit it had me worried for a while)

Many thanks
Mark

That describes life with a Square Four quite well!
