Petrol tanks - gold pinstripes - colour match

Postby robert.clark » Mon Jan 28, 2019 4:44 pm

A nice easy puzzle for a Monday. How difficult can selecting a suitable gold colour for pin striping the petrol tank be. I didn't think so till I started searching. I've come up with Jaguar Coronet but it looks too dark to me.
To go onto Renault Rouge 705 red panels and wheel rims if its important.
Anyone have anything on this.

Robert,
I believe the paint of choice for the gold lines is 'Sign painters 1 shot metallic Gold 109L', Paul Jameson put me onto this and I think others use it as well. It is a proper pinstriping paint so made for the job and apparently the correct shade. It is not cheap but it does the job correctly.
Here is my recent post on the subject viewtopic.php?f=40&t=8779&hilit=tank

Cheers
