Paul- further to above, I too had the loom on top of the lower longitudinal frame member so as to be out of harms way, but I found that it (the loom) has to drop down alongside this frame tube at the rear end and it is a bit thick to do so without pushing the tank out as you describe. I have re-positioned it below the frame tube, alongside the rocker oil feed pipe, where it misses the tank OK, and still plenty of room over the rockerboxes etc. BUT -lack of length dictates it still has to go up under the tank at the area near to the front tank mount bracket, and perhaps needs flattening out a little as described to get comfortably under the tank here. I just looked at mine again. In addition to the main wiring loom, I also have a small flexible (nylon or ?) oil line going to the bar-mounted oil pressure gauge. With the main harness pulled up well above the grease fitting on the near side, I now find that the harness doesn't really touch or bind on the tank at all, and the tank looks nicely centered over the frame.
