Iam struggling to fully assemble the shock absorber---When I nip up the end nut I can't seem to get the inner splines of the end spring plate to line up with the splines in the crank shaft so I can screw the nut fully home---I noticed that the end spring plate has a recess on the ouside, should the washer under the nut have a stepped part to match up with this recess to help alighnment, or is the end washer just a plain washer.

Which shock absorber are you using? Is it the original type with 3 lobes (in which case I can't help as I've never used one) or the later 2 lobe type with the sleeve over the cranksahft?

Hi Paul, thanks again for yor support----My shock absorber has 3-lobes---But after about a dozen more attempts I finally managed to get the splines lined in and got the nut fully nipped up.
