Vincent.vanGinneke wrote:Hello Paul, It 'evolved' around these two frames.
And the owner gave me a drawing with the frame measurements of a W/NG and a standard rigid.
The first frame was o.k. at the engine/gearbox bolt holes, so that was the starting point.
The picture with the second frame 'before' you can see the start of the jig.

Vincent,
Is there a chance that you could post those frame diagrams / drawings . They would be very helpful.

Thanks
Alan

Is Vincent really telling us the truth about the frame top being bent down and having to be jacked up, or is it because he wants the clearance to fit a VH engine.
Excellent work Vincent.

Hi Alan, I'll make a copy of the drawing I used, although I think it comes from the knowledgebase -but not sure-

Hi David, Nev, haha, you got me there ! and today.....I simply could not resist this one and dragged it in.
gebakje (2).JPG

Piece of cake.....
It's a late W/NG with tin chaincase (whats left of it..) and the tank is a prewar or early postwar model.
I dont think it's going to end up as a W/NG
but -as David writes- like a RH like this :

I fancy this rugged looking Ariel,
So...anyone got a spare girder front fork lumbering around with no actual goal for it ? :D

I'm doing a '40 OHV project myself that started life as a VA. Rather than use the usual/optional high pipe I'm having it go upwards AFTER the gearbox and having an original fishtail muffler, which I just happen to have useable. They are the best made muffler I've seen on a brit bike and no repro comes close that I've seen so far.. The pipe I describe was an option and is similar to the VCH style. May I suggest seeing what's missing of the frame you could make a "proper" VCH rear part with your knowledge of these things. and you beaut Jig.. Nev

Vincent Yes it's good. Like to see the other side where it's attached. The CZ stuff is a real credit to them. Nev

Alan, here's the drawing. but a warning, measurements are not from the factory but done on a exsisting frame. (and not by me!)
See comment on drawing .

'Gemeten' means Measured.

Nev, they supply a loose bracket that you have to weld on yourself.

This drawing I scanned from the Cheval, a few years ago .
It gives a few bolt sizes.
Odd that the date it was published is 1953, girders long gone then.
