Very nice work there, John
(But please screw in the fulcrum adjuster on that rear brake to get the lever angle back to 90 degrees! ;) )

Simon,
I have the rear wheel out and examining the brake so I will try and get the best adjustment possible.
I thought it was funny that the lever was vertically up but the spring only fits one way.
Thanks
John

John:
Lever needs to go up or the brake will pull on/lock if you hit a bump while braking.
Have you got all the fulcrum adjuster components in place at the other end? You usually just need to screw in the adjuster (with the rod adjustment slackened off initially) until the lever only pulls up to a right-angle when the brake is on.

Simon,
I took the wheel off only because I thought the lever being "up" was odd. Thanks for the explanation.
Yes all the parts are in place and correct, I will adjust correctly next time. I was in too much of a hurry to road test the bike once
I got the engine running to think about the other fine tuning bits. Not ever having ridden anything that old I wanted to see what it was like
