Hi Steve,
Looks like you are having fun!

I've just splashed out and bought a morgo plunger pump (don't tell the wife); you should ask them for a commission. I've been experiencing any amount of trouble with the oil return resulting in oil all over my rear wheel twice. I was cleaning up the pump face last night, having already tried new balls and springs, (Drags have no re-furbished ones available) and hoped that with good clean and various activities I could put an end to these woes.

Anyway with a new pump and two washers between the timing and crank case- if this doesn't cure it..................

I really want to get out on her this weekend. It's been a month since the unfortunate incident at the Popham Megameet and the nights are drawing in!

I had thought my wet sumping problems were cured after Steve Carter visited me and suggested that perhaps the return oil flow although there, was a bit week. So I checked the pipe to the sump for tightness and did a rudimentary pressure check with the pump off and replaced the pump with another (used but new balls and springs). All appeared fine.

Anyway on the way to the megameet I rode at sustained higher speeds 50 + ish also down the M3 and up the A303 for a stretch.

After arriving parked bike and nosed around the auto jumble /looked at other machines. It was only when I sat down by Betsy to eat my sandwiches that I noticed that the back wheel was shiny. Looked in oil tank and had lost about a third. Fortunately the roads were dry, otherwise this could have had unfortunate consequences!!

What is scary is that I took a number of roundabouts at a fair speed!

Since then any number of obstacles including powder coat coming off of the oil tank (I have repainted this myself and it looks great, but this is a very time consuming and long process especially when work gets in the way). I also replaced the timing cover because one of the threads for the screws that hold the pump in place was dodgy - took a whole Saturday polishing it up, etc. etc.

But what can one do?

With any luck will be finished tomorrow!

Up-date
I went into the garage in september and started the inspection and service nearly November and I'm still there! when I removed the Exhaust pipe to sort the collar mod I saw a pool of oil on the exhaust valve, valve guide worn and loose in the head so the HS has donated it's head, the new stainless steel pipe that I got with the bike is now a good fit, incorrect short reach plug replaced.

HS head new halite washers

So onto the Rockers, oh dear! inlet shaft not pulled over correctly push-rod scuffing the seal and worn so replaced with a new rod, tappet adjuster totally knackered so replaced both with triumph socket head adjusters and new lock nuts and reset the shafts, new oil union from Draganfly, didn't fit but easily teased into position + correct shaft nuts fitted now a good fit and pull over shafts correctly.

Worn out tappet adjuster

So while I'm waiting for parts lets have the clutch out and find out what that rattle is and adjust the chains, Oh dear! here we go again.

If you want to get the head repaired with an oversized valve guide bespoke made, I can thoroughly recommend s.e.p in kegworth, they did a head for me, recut the seats and vacuum tested everything and I think it worked out about £80.

Possibly!!

But for 6Volt - I guess I'd have to upgrade to 12V?
