Can't believe it was January I started this post... where does the time go!!
Well 9/10s there I guess, a few bits to finish on the wiring, tank gauges to get, still need a clutch cover and brake pedal... awaiting new tank mountings and engine oil to be delivered from Draganfly and then the moment of truth.......... see attached photos for first time in daylight since the strip down

That certainly is one good looking Ariel, nice job! time flies when your having fun don't it just, I put mine in the garage for overhaul in september just sorting the last snagging faults now :)

A day of mixed results today... put some oil in and kicked her over, nothing... dead as a Dodo... checked my wonderfully new refurbed magdyno, not a peep, more life in the aforementioned Dodo... put on the 'spare' magneto and there was a spark, so connected all up, fired first kick - unbelievable !!! I only ran her a few seconds before shut down and check out, and I noticed an oil drip from the union on the timing chest, so I took it off, had a look and all seemed OK, so put it back on, gave it a nip and *insert expletive* it snapped !!! :(

So now added to my sought after parts list, the timing cover oil union if anyone has one... or any ideas how to 'create' one?? or I could go back to the previous timing chest I guess and re-plumb as it was before... ahh well, enough for today, it's wine time I think...

Yes Nev, have managed to order a new one now form Peter Kemp, fingers crosed arrives before the weekend and I can have another bash then... still struggling with a brake pedal though, that could slow me down (no pun intended) :lol:

Its a nice bike,but I would rethink the front guard mounting if you intend to ride it much.Have a look at how the alloy guards are mounted on a Matchless 600CS for instance.I once had a nasty crash when an alloy guard broke loose from standard mounts and went round with the wheel.Regards John.

Thanks for that John, made me have a re-think on both mudguard mountings... I'm going to add another bracket to the bottom of the rear guard (has been mentioned in earlier post by Nev) and if I can find a front stay then I'll put another one on the front guard too.

If you use a front stay use the design on the VCH which has a lifting piece like the rear guard. (as a suggestion) Nev
