I thought forum members may like to see these pictures I took last year of a LG250 in oily rag condition.

It's a nice picture, the handlebar in rubber and a steel primary?

Could be a 1933>onwards model... The early models did have the slim crankcases (just like this one) and with just one main bearing on the drive side and a steel primairy case for ''the luxe'' models . I'am not sure if the rubber mounted handlebar are correct. The front fork tubes became tapered from 1934>onwards. Frame- and engine numbers can tell... ;)

Allright, this gives some more information. The Y frame prefix can make it a 1933, 1934 or a 1935 model. Engine prefix KA will make it 1935. But there is a problem: the KA prefix was only to be used for a 1935 550cc VA3 sidevalve, the 500 OHV VF3 and the VA4, VB, VF4 and VG and VH. A close look to the magneto chain cover confirms it like a later example. The early gear cases (like this one) does have the more square shoulder/edge compared to later models who are more rounded off. I think they fitted a later 1936>1937 LG 250 cover on a early engine. Stil it's not clear if this is a 250 or a 350. In this case only the registar can make the right verdict I guess. Just a thought ;)

The entries for KA 1292 to KA 1296 are completely blank in the Despatch book. But frame Y6411 went to Colmore Depot in Birmingham as a Model LF4 on 27.7.34. So it seems that someone has had to replace the crankcases and has acquired a spare unused set. One wonders how long ago the change took place and whether the bike was returned to Selly Oak for this purpose. Perhaps it was.

The bike looks 1934 to me with the early front hub but rubber mounted handlebars.
