Thank you John,it was the 26 tpi i needed as here in Canada we have 1/4 x 20 NC and 1/4 x 28 NF and Metric 6mm but I didn't have the pitch. I tried to order them from Drags but they were out of stock and I am already waiting for over a month for an order to be filled of all back order parts as in rings, Morgo oil pump, etc. so i made the bolts on my lathe... now another problem I will ask for some advice on another post... Cheers, Dave.

HI Dave, 1/4" x 26 tpi CEI (cycle thread) all sorts are available on ebay
1/4" x 26 tpi BSF is interchangable with CEI only the thread angle differs and makes little or no difference.

Guys, we really shouldn't be mixing thread forms. Some BSF & CEI threads do have the same pitch and will go together, but it's not difficult to make or buy the right fasteners these days. I appreciate that some folk live in locations where the right bits are less available than others, but the goal should be to avoid mixing or changing threads.

I've done this myself, coming from BSAs which seem to use more variety than Ariel did, and having cleaned up various frame threads with the wrong taps. Fortunately I spotted it before I did any serious damage and am only reminded of it when using my chain adjusters which are very loose, or my front mudguard studs which are also very loose...
cheers

Either 3BA or 4BA, can't remember which. Sorry that's tank badge retaining screws. Didn't read the post properly.
