Hello Tony and others !
Wow what a fantastic Ariel V twin it has become!
To fill in some of the details of this story....
Early 1994 I thought of making up a 1st April joke for the Cheval and got Herman Noort in to the hoax.
At that time I had a two alloy heads and barrels from my repro HT and my HS MkIII. (both gone now).
From a few bits of plywood, some plasticine and silver paint I made up a crankcase for the fake Vtwin.
Making up the story for Cheval along the way !
Blurp about some refound drawings, electric start etc. the HP figure I glanced from the data sheet of a Vincent Black Shadow!
Because afterall, a Ariel Vtwin should at least be on par with a Vincent BS.
But what I did not know at that time was the fact that Adrie was indeed making a Vtwin based on single crankcases for real !
Herman and me pipped him to the post so to say.
I think our hoax then took the urge away from Adrie -yes ? Adrie?- to finish his engine.
Later on Adrie's engine ended up in the skillfull hands of Tony, the rest, as they say, is history !
Thanks for the nice video !

Forgot to mention that at that time I also send the 'article' to the editor of Classic Bike.
Because I wrote in the text that this Vtwin would have Morgo pumps he decided to make a call to Morgo….
I forgot the name of the director, but they, Morgo, did not now about it.
then the editor noticed that I requested it to be published in the April issue.
Now It dawned on him, haha.
I got a very polite letter from him, and it did make it in to Classic Bike, but not on the 'New Products' page !

Hi Vincent. Thanks for filling in the gaps before I acquired Adries engine. One day I may meet Adrie, I owe him a ride on the bike, one day maybe.

Regards Tony

Tony, a nice place for lunch and a good few Arielist residents in the area.

The Club's got some excellent floats to help you avoid that, Tony ;) :D

I will give you a full breakfast when you are landing, and a guard of honor in the mainstreet with 40 Ariels.
A friend has done it in a open dinghy with 2 outboard engines (one spare) in 10 hours.

I saw the floats on the river at the Rally last year. I will get the back wheel out and a paddle fitted this weekend.
