Hi Simon you will need a 10 ton press a spigot turned to fit snugly into the liner bores machined to the same outside diameter of the liner, allowing about .010 thou clearance and when the misses is out for the day an oven. Check to make sure that the liner to be removed is in good condition and has not been damaged. If damaged you will have to machine or cutaway level to accept the spigot. Have everything ready to hand, turn oven on to max put the block in for about an hour to cook remove and press out the liner with the spigot on the press. You will end up with a strange smell emanating from oven so be ready with some sort of answer when noticed. Best of luck Keith

I find cleaning crankcases in a dishwasher is an excellent way to degrease them, then when they go in the oven there is far less of a smell.

Are you serious? What cleaning fluid did you put in the dishwasher?
cheers

Yes, completely serious. The machine takes tablets (i don't use a liquid) that really cleans off stubborn oil residue. Helps if you rub some gunk over the cases first and let it soak in. I take cases out as soon as the washing cycle has finished and dry them off by hand with a rag. I don't use it on iron parts (especially heads and barrels) as the chemicals and the temperature leave some oxidation marks.

I clean them in gunk and parafin with a scrubbing brush then use my hand held steamer really close up which gets an amazing amount of crudd off and then boil the kettle and fill a flexible builders bucket and scrub them down being careful not to scald my hands long winded but works
going back to the barrels i have 3 sets one set 1st over perfect fins but one smashed liner,2nd set are standard with a couple of bust fins but the 3rd set the bores are ok but there are so many bust fins they are beyond saving, but i wanted to take the sleaves out and use what good fins i have to repaire the other set and reuse the liner in my othere set ,? Well thats my plan i did like the bit in the 1951 ariel owners manual about changing a liner !!! Get a blow torch and a mate to help you ,ha ha
