Saddle for Ariel VG32

Postby hristo.kiskinov » Wed Oct 12, 2016 4:40 pm

I am searching for a seat cover for my Ariel VG32 (500 OHV, 1932). There must be a Lycett saddle.
But there is a simple question - is this the large Licett or the small Licett saddle?
Best regards

If you just want to cover your own frame R.K. Leightons of Birmingham will do a really good job.

Lycett saddles as fitted to Ariels came in 2 sizes. The standard size, which is the smaller of the two, fits everything other than pushrod Square Fours (ie 1937 - onward Square Fours). These Square Fours had a larger, wider saddle. I do not think that the owners of Square Fours necessarily have bigger backsides than other Ariel owners. I think the reason for the wider saddle is that the rear frame rails on the pushrod Square are further apart than on the other models to cope with the wider engine.
