The "Anstey Link" is OK for 1939. Rare on a 350 I would have thought. Nice find. Take the oil tank off . Put some roofing nuts in it with kero,(paraffin) and shake vigorously till all the grunge in the bottom is lifted and then flush and dry. It goes hard on the bottom. I've seen it 1/2 inch thick. Nev

If you want to make it more standard you need a differend numberplateholder and light.
The petroltank is 1947-1950 but the differends is very small, i wouldn't bother.

The speedo cable is going down from the tank, if pre war than the cable will come from the rear just above the carburettor.

Update.

First off thanks for the help and kind words.

With direction and encouragement from Paul Jameson I've managed to track down the original registration number (in Derby)!
It's been a fun journey so far, and it involved going to Derby Council archives at Matlock, which was a nice ride on a lovely day.

Chatting with Paul, I realised the info I'd gathered DID include the reg number but I just couldn't see it. Thanks Paul!

And here's where the bike was sold, waaaay back in 1939, Palins Motors, Osmaston Road in Derby.

This pic circa 1930 btw.
