all i had to do was download and print off the form V112 , fill it in and sign it and send it off to the dvla , they then sent back a confirmation letter and that was it .
V112 form has very little on it you need to fill in , it is basically just a declaration that you sign and send off .
i did 4 or 5 of my bikes the other year and will have a couple more to do this year .
to declare it as historic tax class you just fill in the V5C to change the taxation class to historic and send it off and they should send it back updated and then their website details should show mot exempt etc when you check , may take a week or two to be updated .
one thing i would say is that it seems the dvla are sending out " standard " letters to people changing vehicle keeper or details of , asking for details of any modifications and also pictures of the vehicles and vin plate and engine number etc , so if you do get asked for photos and information , they are looking for pictures of a standard looking machine and not a customised or highly modified one .
if you send in pics of a cafe racer , bobber thing or something thats messed about with they can and will without warning cancel and make your reg number void and send you forms to re register it with a new vin number and a Q plate .
they did this to me with a Leader project i bought which has a 1960s F1 fibreglass tank and seat unit and expansion chambers on it .
