Thanks for the Add to the group

Postby Vic Perrin » Mon Feb 12, 2018 6:27 pm

Hi and thanks for adding me to the group. My first proper Road bike was a Golden Arrow SS many years ago. When I got married it was left at my parents home in the shed. After a few years I decided it was time to get it back to my place . I was horrified to find out that my mother had given it to the scrap man when she had a tidy out of the shed. I have had a 1951 D1 bantam stored away at home for the past 15 years and have just got it back out and up and running again. Having got the bike itch again I would love to get hold of a Golden Arrow so I wil be keeping my eyes peeled.

Hi,
Welcome!!
Yes, I can entirely empathise with you on your mother's shed clearing activities. The same happened to me and it is only by shear fortune that my VH didn't suffer a similar fate (although it ended up as a rusty hulk in corner of her garden). I had a number of complete engines and gearboxes plus any number of engine and other spares; even a frame - all disposed of when I was living abroad. Never mind; they'd have been really useful now, but there you have it.

Hope you can find your 'smokey' Ariel !

BR,
Keith

PS. Love the Bantam!
