When Lynne and I shipped our Ariels to Oz in 2014 we used a crate manufacturer who was certified for compliance with Australian regulations. You could have eaten your dinner off the undersides of our mudguards but it still took a few strong emails to convince them not to steam clean the bikes due to the potential damage to moving parts. Australia has learnt bitter lessons about the unintended consequences of importing things that upset their fragile ecosystems...remember rabbits, prickly pear and cane toads to name but a few environmental disasters. They are quite rightly very cautious.
