Bob, here a your pictures! , and yes, I can now verify that the flange on a QD hub is pressed on.
I only went a tiny bit bezirk on making these bits to get it off

+ that I like things to be substantial .
On the positive side; I now have forever a nice set of special tools to take QD hubs apart
Above and clockwise from 10 o'clock;
Flat 12mm plate with hole large enough to pass the off-side flange through.
70mm high and 230mm in diameter slice from a old fire extinguisher to place hub in.
solid bit to press down the hub's center tube.
2 part clamp, slide fit around the hub's center tube.
Place under fly press and in no more then 2 seconds, job done.
Now on to making extra flange to take those 3 studs and 9 dowels..
Oh, small detail: this will be the one and only 40 spoke 3 stud QD hub...
