That sounds like a good idea.
Thanks David

Doh! Turns out the bike has one of those on anyway.
I got the bike now and runs well. Still drops a tablespoon of oil on the road after use.

One more question if I may.
Got the bike now.
Need to top the oil up. Previous owner didn;t do much with the bike so was unsure what oil to put in.
Engine doesn't have a separate oil filter fitted (Is that a good idea?) so I was thinking of using some Morris stright 40 that I use on a different bike as it's detergent free?
Is that the right oil?

I don't have a 'Oil Level' transfer on the oil tank but thinking 3/4 full level would be OK?

On a bike with shell bearings, I will always use multigrade oil.

Three quarters full is acceptable - you should be able to see the level of the oil easily in the tank.
Ariel Square 4 mk2, Ariel Square 4 mk3 (yes, really), Ariel Colt, Matchless G12, BSA C12. Room for one more......
