Trying to identify this bike

Postby pauldridge » Sun Dec 08, 2019 4:56 am

I was contacted via our Ariel North America website by a fellow from Argentina, who has acquired this bike, and is asking if anyone can identify it (i.e. year and model). The only comment I've received so far from US members is that it looks to be a "bitsa".

Any intelligence would be appreciated

I don't think it's bitsa but a good 1948-1950 VH, the owner must have given the numbers so this is just a test for us.
The motorcycle in the background is a Matchless.

Top yoke is 49 - 50, rear mudguard stays 49 possibly 50, front brake plate painted which is correct for 49 but chromed in 50 (unless subsequently painted) so for me it is a 49 VH.
edit. actually the rear mudguard stay/lifting handle is tubular so 50
