I've never tried bending an Ariel brake pedal so I can't comment.
However it's a bit more complicated to keep the flat bit of the pedal - where your toes go -
flat. It needs a double bend. In the past I've drilled two small holes in the pedal and bolted
bits of thick rubber onto the pedal to build it up to the point where I could work the brake.
It was much easier to add or take bits off to get it right. Finally, when my foot worked
properly again I unbolted the rubber and apart from two small holes you couldn't tell
anything had been done.
