Hi Dave,

Mine has just arrived, it's named 'Kit K2543 - Electronic Transistor Ignition for Cars', costs £12.47 + VAT and comes as a kit that requires the components soldering onto a board.

There's an option for 6V which I added and comprises a few additional resistors.

Looking at the kit is seems pretty straightforward if you're OK with a bit of soldering.

Cheers,
Bernie

Now I've decided not to sell I'd like to move this thread to 4-stroke but don't seem to be able to - maybe only admins can do that?

Anyway - hold up on buying that kit. I think now it may only be suitable for -ve earth.

Hoping to get confirmation next week....

Still won't start  just the odd firing of a cylinder but that's it.

Now wondering about the carb but been there sooooo many times!

Cheers,
Bernie

Bernie , I have realized the kit doesnt replace the points and is an amplifier switching unit , I have one already a Sparkrite sx4000 which I am yet to fit, could your starting problem be stale fuel ?

Hi Dave,
It could be stale fuel but the problem has been there so long I'm struggling to think what I haven't changed/checked/tweaked.
I've just ordered a service kit for the carb so will see if that helps.

I do know that the thread in the head that the bolt that goes through the front of the inlet pipe is marginal and probably needed helicoiling so it's possible that I might have an air leak there - I'll tackle that while doing the carb service and see how it goes.

Cheers,
Bernie
